February 2011 Board of Director Minutes
NHOS Board Meeting, February 5, 2011
Meeting called to order by Steve Tacopina at 10:09AM.
Present: Steve Tacopina, Ulla Jurrissen, Les Regenbogen, George Crozer, Daryl Yerdon, Ron Selander-Carrier, Norm Selander-Carrier, Mike Mattozzi, Chuck Crisler
Les Regenbogen moved to accept the minutes from the January meeting, noting Mike Mattozzi as Show Chair, seconded by George Crozer.
NHOS Show: The general membership will be given highlights from the past week, Steve will do overview, and Mike will fill in details. Bottom line is after careful and deliberate negotiation, the Radisson Hotel in Nashua has partnered with NHOS for the 20th show. Jo McHale stated show pre-registration ends at 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Steve will make a plea for volunteers. The Board may consider in the future moving the show to a later date. Steve will re-emphasize ease of getting plants to the show for those that cannot bring them to Nashua on Thursday. Whenever anyone is approached they should talk up membership. At the December meeting Jean Hallstone indicated that members get into show free. Les will need to get membership list from Andy. We have six rooms to distribute at the Radisson. Board recommended Jo McHale to get one room since she needs space to use her computer for AOS judging, ribbon judging, etc. WMUR has indicated they might show up at the General Membership meeting; however another story may take precedence.
Chuck will set up cost centers for the show. There will be sequential setup of receipts. Chuck will set up forms. He had a hard time last year keeping track of the money. Chuck will keep same set-up for cost centers as last year.
Steve discussed the article that was in the Nashua Telegraph. There was so much going on and no details were provided by the Radisson or it’s parent company that we really did not know what was going on. The Board and Show committee made decisions based on the information we had at the time.
Other Shows: CAIOS show went well. Jack Mulder won an AOS award.
Wentworth Show is next month. There will be a show table at Wentworth, Saturday 10-5, Sunday 10-4. We can do set-up on Friday. Crozer & Crozer, Kelley’s Korner Orchid Supplies will be there. Andy will have membership forms available both at the show and Wentworth. Members may bring plants to sell. Daryl Yerdon, Jo McHale, Chuck Wingate Jean Stephanik will be giving workshops.
Treasurer Report: 990s are complete. Paperwork for 2003-2007 has been sent to IRS. This will be the last 990 we have to do. In the future this can be done electronically. No feedback yet.
Chuck has filed necessary paperwork for the State. The State says another form needs to be done.
Awards party tickets from Chuck will be given to Les on Thursday.
