Board of Directors Meeting

February 04 2012

Attendance

Present: President Mike Mattozzi, Past-President Steve Tacopina, Vice President George Crozer, Treasurer Chuck Crisler, Secretary Adrienne Giovino; Trustees Daryl Yerdon, Jen Mars and Norm Selander-Carrier

Committee Chairs: Show Chair Jean Hallstone

Absent: Trustee Lee Brockmann

Opening: Mike called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM.

George moved to approve the minutes of the January meeting with Norm’s changes. Steve seconded and the motion carried.

President

• The board discussed nominees for the Orchid Digest Diamond Award. Norm moved to give the award to Ulla Jurrisen. Chuck Crisler seconded. The motion carried.
  
  

Vice-President

• Schedule for program speakers and their costs were presented: Harry from Andy’s Orchids (April 14). Michael Sinn from Canaima Orchids (May 12), Jason Fischer (June 9), and Hadley Cash (October 13). Topics have not yet been finalized. Member auction was moved from May to July as Michael Sinn will be speaking in May.

Treasurer

• Expense manifest $18,426.97. Norm moved to accept. Steve seconded. The motion carried. Mike questioned if we had enough funds to cover the expense manifest. Chuck said that we would, as some of the checks would be paid after the show.
  
  

Secretary

• Two emails received. The first was from John Whiting about purchasing antique Paphs. Bob Cleveland’s contact information will be sent to Mr. Whiting. The second was about availability of show tickets at the door; an email with information was sent prior to BoD meeting

 

Committees

Membership: Sue Labonville updated the membership list. Almost everyone has paid: 66 members 108 memberships.

New England Orchid Shows: The Amherst show is February 24-26. Jean Stefanik will coordinate set-up with Jen Mars and Lee Brockmann will handle tear down.

The Nutmeg State show is March 17-18. George Crozer may volunteer as he will be a vendor at the show.

The Wentworth show is March 3-4. Ulla Jurrisen will coordinate speakers. Mike Mattozzi and Laurie Savoy will staff the membership table. Plants for the display are needed.

Miscellaneous

Mike moved to adjourn and Norm seconded. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 10:40 AM.
