January 23 - 25, 2009 we had this display at the Cape and
Islands Orchid Society show in North Falmouth, MA.
NHOS member Daryl Yerdon won the Best Vandaceous Trophy for this
Ascda. Motes Goldpiece ‘Twenty Four Carat’ AM/AOS.
Jack Mulder won two trophies for this
Brassavold nodosa, the Best Cattleya and Best Species Hobby Grower trophies.
Jack also won an AOS award for his very well flowered Maxillaria maleolens.
We were also awarded the Orchid Digest
trophy by the AOS judges. The Orchid Digest trophy "may" be
awarded by a team consisting of a minimum of five judges to one noncommercial
orchid exhibit displaying the highest levels of artistry, taste and innovation
in design and presentation; flower quality; and cultural excellence. Thanks
to all our members for another wonderful orchid display!
