The 2005 Massachusetts Orchid Society show featured the theme "September Song".  The 2005 show was again held at the Elm Bank Horticultural Center in Wellesley, MA.  We wish to thank Chuck Crisler for volunteering to set up our display and to all who helped with this year's NHOS display.

On September 24, 2005, our society officially dedicated a bench at the Wildcat River Waterfall Park in Jackson, New Hampshire, in the memory of NHOS member Dave Moreton. For the benefit of newer members, Dave was a longtime member of NHOS, serving in many capacities including as NHOS President until his untimely death in Dec. 2002.

The small brass plate on the plaque on the back of the bench says, In fond memory of David O. Moreton August 25, 1922 - December 12, 2002 conservationist, historian, master gardener, outdoorsman, orchid enthusiast, ... and friend. by the NH Orchid Society

If you are ever in the area, please stop for a moment to remember Dave, sit on the bench, and enjoy the view of the spectacular waterfall. It is located in a roadside park 1/4 mile north on Carter Notch Road, which is just north of the Jackson Community Church on Rt. 16A in the center of Jackson Village, New Hampshire.

We had another beautiful day for our 2005 society picnic. The annual picnic is always a fun and informal monthly meeting.  It provides our members an opportunity to relax and enjoy the day while talking about....  orchids of course!

On April 23 and 24, 2005 we once again participated at the Amherst Orchid Society show and sale in Northampton, MA.  Our display took a first place ribbon, and we were awarded 13 ribbons as well as the an award for Joanne McHale's "Best Small Phalaenopsis" Phal. (amabilis x (Coral Nosa x equestris)) 'Sweet'. 

 Our 2005 show 'Orchid Magic' was held on February 18 - 20 and was once again at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua, NH. The AOS judges were said to be impressed with the orchids on display at our show, and six plants were recognized as worthy of AOS awards.

On January 28 - 30, 2005 the New Hampshire Orchid Society once again participated in the Cape & Islands Orchid Society orchid show at the Sea Crest Resort and Conference Center in North Falmouth Massachusetts.
