Member Coop Table

Ovid Slavin,  Chairperson  (Jean Stefanik assisting)

Anyone interested in becoming involved with the Member Co-op Table at the NH Orchid Society Show should contact Ovid Slavin, Chairperson, by February 2, 2008. General rules (you will be required to sign a simple contract) include that anyone wishing to sell items MUST be a member of the NH Orchid Society, and MUST volunteer 3 hours daily to help sell at the table - not only their own items but others' items as well.    Many members volunteer for other aspects of the show in addition.    Times will be scheduled, with flexibility for other obligations and plenty of time for all involved to roam at the show.

Items being sold MUST be orchid plants or orchid-related items.  This is a perfect opportunity to recoup some money by selling plant divisions, artwork or whatever,  and help the Society as well.   Plants must have a tag (even simply the Genus and ? for species is helpful).   Plants must be pest-free.   It's helpful but not required, to have a photo of the type of flower if not in bloom, and a few hints on growing conditions.    Table space will be limited to approximately 2 X 2 feet, possibly more depending on the available space and number of members participating.  There will be a storage room for excess stock which you can periodically replenish.   Start saving recycled grocery bags now for protecting items/plants sold!

There is no fee for table space, but all items sold have two identical sticky price tags on them - one to stay with the plant, and one to be attached to a master list which each person supplies (Double or triple space EACH item,  numbered with initials and a number...  OS#1, OS#2...etc.)    Receipts are made for ALL sales, and all money  and checks collected goes to the NHOS Treasurer.    Members receive 80% of their sales usually in a few days; NHOS retains 20%.

You may sell all 3 days (Preview Party, Sat, Sunday), any one day, or any combination thereof.   But any day your items are for sale,  you MUST volunteer some time.   It's only fair, and it usually works out.    One of the fantastic benefits to volunteering at this table is the opportunity to interact with visitors to the show.    Many ask questions, and you can direct them to the appropriate spot,  offer them a tidbit of wisdom about culture, or simply demonstrate a welcoming attitude.

Contact Ovid Slavin by February 2, 2008 (NHOS meeting) if you are interested in participating.   Ovid's phone # is (603) 491-3655 (cell) and email is ovlaur@comcast.net [E-MAIL].
